Isa Cole Very lucky to see these guys perform at Budapest Showcase Hub last week. Tremendous live act and fits in perfectly with the UK Nu-Jazz scene. I very much hope they'll enage in a UK tour and we'll see them at We Out Here next year. Favorite track: 01.06.

Jakub Knera Klawo calls to mind the young UK jazz scene, with its pulsating funk sound, but also boasts arrangements that would have been right at home in the golden age of Polish radio and TV. The group’s dense sound; their interweaving of electronics with wind instruments and flutes; and their undeniable groove make them one of the most promising young groups on the scene.

The band Klawo debuted in May 2021 with a single titled "Wdzięczność" (“Gratitude”) while also joining the roster of artists released by the independent Gdynia-based label Coastline Northern Cuts.
The origins of Klawo go back to the second half of 2019, when Konstanty Kostka was invited to arrange his EP "Flądra" for a concert organized by Coastline Northern Cuts - without the use of a sampler but with a whole "live band" instead. After four months of experiments and first rehearsals it turned out that new arrangements and energy of each of the members gave "Flądra" a completely new groove, and the spontaneity based on jazz improvisation made the band play more and more to finally compose original material together.

The first track is a bit of an outlier, perhaps connecting back to earlier albums where jazz foundations lead the way, before going all out berserk with the beats, beats, and beats. Bass and electronics are now the mainstays over the hip-hop influenced rhythms. But the horns are still layered back in with style. I initially passed this over, but the Szlam / Ścieki tracks blew my socks off and in desperation for more, I was led back to this. I can't wait to see where Błoto go next. rvss.eel

Bloto is a Jazz band... I love psychedelic music and also KRAUTROCK, and I think there is also a bit of that in Bloto. The title JASMIN is beautiful and hypnotic. gaston_macoute
